| Sgt. 1st Class Brian A. Mack, 36, of Phoenix, Arizona. Mack died in Mosul, Iraq, when his military vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Washington. Died on January 13, 2005. Pfc. Vorn J. Mack, 19, of Orangeburg, South Carolina. Mack jumped into the Euphrates River near the Hadithah Dam, west of Ar Ramadi, Iraq to take a swim and did not resurface. A search party found Mack's body downstream on August 24. Mack was assigned to the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colorado. Died on August 23, 2003. Spc. William J. Maher III, 35, of Yardley, Pennsylvania. Maher was in a convoy when he was injured by an improvised explosive device. Maher died of his injuries in Baghdad, Iraq. Maher was assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 36th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, based at Ray Barracks, Germany. Died on July 28, 2003. Spc. David P. Mahlenbrock, 20, of Maple Shade, New Jersey. Mahlenbrock died in Kirkuk, Iraq, when he was clearing a route and an improvised explosive device detonated. He was assigned to the 65th Engineer Battalion, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Died on December 3, 2004. Staff Sgt. Toby W. Mallet, 26, of Kaplan, Louisiana. Mallet died in Bayji, Iraq, when a rocket-propelled grenade struck his patrol vehicle. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany. Died on April 9, 2004. 1st Lt. Adam Malson, 23, of Rochester Hills, Michigan. Malson died in Baghdad, Iraq, from injuries sustained while on patrol when an improvised explosive device detonated. He was assigned to 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, Fort Drum, New York. Died on February 19, 2005. CWO Ian D. Manuel, 23, of Florida. Manuel was a crew member onboard a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter when it crashed near Fallujah, Iraq while on a MEDEVAC mission. He was assigned to the 571st Medical Company (Air Ambulance), Fort Carson, Colorado. Died on January 8, 2004. Staff Sgt. William F. Manuel, 34, of Kinder, Louisiana. Manuel died in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device hit his military vehicle. He was assigned to the Army National Guard's 3rd Battalion, 156th Infantry Regiment, 256th Infantry Brigade, Lake Charles, Louisiana. Died on January 10, 2005. Pfc. Pablo Manzano, 19, of Heber, California. Manzano died as a result of a non-combat weapons discharge in Logistical Support Area Dogwood, Iraq. Manzano was assigned to B Company, 54th Engineer Battalion, V Corps, Bamberg, Germany. Died on August 25, 2003. Spc. Joshua S. Marcum, 33, of Evening Shade, Arkansas. Marcum died in Taji, Iraq, when an improvised explosive devise detonated near his military vehicle. He was assigned to the Army National Guard's 3rd Battalion, 153rd Infantry Regiment, 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Camden, Arkansas. Died on January 4, 2005. Pfc. Lyndon A. Marcus, Jr., 21, of Long Beach, California. Marcus died in Balad, Iraq, when his military vehicle left the road and flipped over in a canal. He was assigned to the 4th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Vilseck, Germany. Died on May 3, 2004. Staff Sgt. Paul C. Mardis, Jr., 25, of Palmetto, Florida. Mardis died in Washington, D.C., from injuries sustained on May 20, 2004 in Mosul, Iraq, when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Died on July 15, 2004. Sgt. Javier Marin, Jr., 29, of Mission, Texas. Marin died in Mohammed Sacran, Iraq, when his Bradley Fighting Vehicle overturned. He was assigned to the 2d Battalion, 2d Infantry, 1st Infantry Division, Vilseck, Germany. Died on January 24, 2005. Spc. James E. Marshall, 19, of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Marshall died in Baghdad, Iraq, when his vehicle hit an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 21st Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. Died on May 5, 2004. Sgt. 1st Class John W. Marshall, 50, of Los Angeles, California. Killed in action in Iraq. Marshall was struck by an enemy rocket propelled grenade during an enemy ambush in Baghdad. Marshall was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia. Died on April 8, 2003. Pfc. Ryan A. Martin, 22, of Mount Vernon, Ohio. Martin died near Samarra, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device exploded near his vehicle. He was assigned to the Army National Guard's 216th Engineer Battalion, Hamilton, Ohio. Died on August 20, 2004. Staff Sgt. Stephen G. Martin, 39, of Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Martin died at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., from injuries sustained in Mosul, Iraq, on June 24, 2004 when a car bomb exploded near his guard post. He was assigned to the Army Reserve's 330th Military Police Detachment, Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Died on July 1, 2004. Sgt. Francisco Martinez, 28, of Humacao, Puerto Rico. Martinez was in a convoy in Baghdad, Iraq when an improvised explosive device exploded. He was assigned to B Detachment, 82nd Soldier Support Battalion (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Died on November 4, 2003. Spc. Francisco G. Martinez, 20, of Fort Worth, Texas. Martinez died in Tamin, Iraq, as a result of enemy small arms fire. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Hovey, Korea. Died on March 20, 2005. Pfc. Jesse J. Martinez, 20, of Tracy, California. Martinez died in Talafar, Iraq, when his vehicle rolled over as the driver tried to avoid another vehicle. He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Washington. Died on July 14, 2004. Spc. Michael A. Martinez, 29, of Juan Diaz, Puerto Rico. Martinez died in Baqubah, Iraq, when his military vehicle rolled over. Martinez was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery, Bamberg, Germany. Died on September 8, 2004. Spc. Victor A. Martinez, 21, of Bronx, New York. Martinez died south of Baghdad, Iraq, from a gunshot wound. He was assigned to the 364th Supply Company, 264th Corps Support Battalion, 1st Corps Support Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Died on December 14, 2004. Sgt. Trinidad R. Martinez-Luis, 22, of Los Angeles, California. Martinez-Luis died in Baqubah, Iraq, when his 5-ton vehicle rolled over and pinned him underwater. He was assigned to 201st Forward Support Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, Vilseck, Germany. Died on November 28, 2004. Spc. Jacob D. Martir, 21, of Norwich, Connecticut. Martir died in Sadr City, Iraq, when his patrol came under enemy small arms fire. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. Died on August 18, 2004. Spc. Nicholas C. Mason, 20, of King George, Virginia. Mason died in Mosul, Iraq, when a suicide bomber entered his dining facility and detonated an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the Army National Guard's 276th Engineer Battalion, West Point, Virginia. Died on December 21, 2004. Sgt. Arthur S. Mastrapa, 35, of Apopka, Florida. Mastrapa died in Balad, Iraq, during a mortar attack when mortar rounds hit his camp. He was assigned to the Army Reserve's 351 Military Police Company, 95th Military Police Battalion, 16th Military Police Brigade, Ocala, Florida. Died on June 16, 2004. CWO Johnny Villareal Mata, 35, of Pecos, Texas. Killed in action after his convoy was ambushed in Iraq on March 23, 2003. He was assigned to the 507th Maintenance Company, Fort Bliss, Texas. Sgt. James C. Matteson, 23, of Celoron, New York. Matteson died in Fallujah, Iraq, when a rocket-propelled grenade struck his Bradley Fighting Vehicle. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Vilseck, Germany. Died on November 12, 2004. Spc. Clint Richard Matthews, 31, of Bedford, Pennsylvania. Matthews died in Baji, Iraq, from injuries sustained when his Bradley Fighting Vehicle went over a 60-foot embankment and flipped over on March 17, 2004. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, from Schweinfurt, Germany. Died on March 19, 2004. Pfc. Joseph P. Mayek, 20, of Rock Springs, Wyoming. Died after being struck by an AP round that was discharged from an M2 Bradley vehicle. Mayek was assigned to C Company, 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, Smith Barracks, Germany. Died on April 14, 2003. Sgt. Patrick R. McCaffrey, Sr., 34, of Tracy, California. McCaffrey died in Balad, Iraq, when enemy forces ambushed his ground patrol. He was assigned to the Army National Guard's 579th Engineer Battalion, Petaluma, California. Died on June 22, 2004. Pfc. Ryan M. McCauley, 20, of Lewisville, Texas. McCauley died in Baghdad, Iraq when his patrol came under attack by enemy forces using small arms fire. McCune died in Landstuhl, Germany, of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his patrol on August 4, 2004 in Balad, Iraq. He was assigned to the Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 161st Infantry Regiment, 81st Brigade Combat Team, Moses Lake, Washington. Died on August 5, 2004. Spc. Dwayne J. McFarlane, Jr., 20, of Cass Lake, Minnesota. McFarlane died in Baghdad, Iraq, when his dismounted patrol was hit by an improvised explosive device. McNail died in Iskandariyah, Iraq, when his HMMVW struck another military vehicle. McVey, 53, of Oak Hill, West Virginia. McVey was medically evacuated from Baghdad, Iraq, on September 23, 2004 for treatment of a non-combat related illness. He was assigned to the Army Reserve's 706th Transportation Company, Kenton, Ohio. Died on November 7, 2004. Spc. Irving Medina, 22, of Middletown, New York. Medina was traveling in a convoy when it struck an improvised explosive device in Baghdad, Iraq. Medina, 32, of Chicago, Illinois. Medina died in Al Amarah, Iraq when his convoy was attacked. Melton, 30, of Westplains, Missouri. Melton died in Iraq when his military vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device and small arms fire while traveling in a convoy from Baghdad. Menyweather, 35, of Los Angeles, California. Menyweather died of his injuries after an improvised explosive device hit his vehicle in Baqubah, Iraq. Methvin was killed as a result of a grenade being thrown from a window of an Iraqi civilian hospital that he was guarding in Ba'qubah, Iraq. Died on December 26, 2003. Pfc. Anthony S. Miller, 19, of San Antonio, Texas. Killed by enemy indirect fire in Iraq. Miller died in Balad, Iraq, when he was shot while on traffic control duty. Miller was assigned to 1st Squadron, 4th U.S. Cavalry, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany. Died on April 7, 2004. 1st Sgt. Timmy J. Millsap, 39, of Wichita, Kansas. Millsap died in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries sustained in Taji, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV. He was assigned to the 70th Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Fort Riley, Kansas. Died on April 25, 2005. Sgt. Joseph Minucci II, 23, of Richeyville, Pennsylvania. Minucci was riding on a bus when an improvised explosive device exploded in Samara, Iraq. He was assigned to C Company, 2nd Battalion (Airborne), 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, Camp Ederle, Italy. Died on November 13, 2003. Sgt. 1st Class Troy L. Miranda, 44, of DeQueen, Arkansas. Miranda died on Hipha Street in Baghdad, Iraq, when a grenade was thrown near his foot patrol. He was assigned to C Company, 1st Battalion, 153rd Infantry Regiment, 39th Brigade Combat Team, Arkansas Army National Guard, assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division. Died on May 20, 2004. Spc. George A. Mitchell, 35, of Rawlings, Maryland. Died of wounds received from an enemy rocket attack south of Baghdad. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Infantry Division, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, Fort Stewart, Georgia. Died on April 7, 2003. Sgt. Keman L. Mitchell, 24, of Hilliard, Florida. Mitchell jumped into seven-foot deep body of water in Kirkuk, Iraq. When he failed to resurface, members of his squad retrieved him. Medical personnel went to the scene and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Mitchell was evacuated to a forward surgical team and was pronounced dead on arrival. Mitchell was assigned to Company C, 4th Engineer Battalion, Fort Carson, Colorado. Died on May 26, 2003. Sgt. Michael W. Mitchell, 25, of Porterville, California. Mitts died in Mosul, Iraq, when his Stryker military vehicle received enemy fire during convoy operations. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Washington. Died on December 4, 2004. Pfc. Jesse D. Mizener, 24, of Auburn, California. Mizener was killed when a mortar round hit the Logistics Base in Baghdad, Iraq. He was assigned to the 542nd Maintenance Company, 44th Corps Support Battalion, 593rd Corps Support Group, Fort Lewis, Washington. Died on January 7, 2004. Pfc. Anthony W. Monroe, 20, of Bismarck, North Dakota. Monroe died in Baghdad, Iraq, when two rockets impacted his camp. He was assigned to Division Artillery, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. Died on October 11, 2004. 1st Lt. Adam G. Mooney, 28, of Cambridge, Maryland. Mooney was listed as duty status unknown on January 25, 2004 in Mosul, Iraq, when his helicopter went down in the Tigris River during a search for a missing soldier. His remains were recovered on February 14, 2003. Mooney was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 10th Aviation (Fort Drum), however, in support of mission requirements, he was attached to 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York. Mora, 26, of Bell Gardens, California. Mora died of wounds received from an enemy mortar attack in Samaria, Iraq. He was assigned to C Company, 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado. Died on October 24, 2003. Sgt. Melvin Y. Mora, 27, of Columbia, Missouri. Mora died in Abu Graib/West Baghdad, Iraq, when his camp Log Base Seitz was hit by a mortar attack. He was assigned to the Army Reserve's 245th Maintenance Company, St. Louis, Missouri. Died on June 6, 2004. Pfc. Michael A. Mora, 19, of Arroyo Grande, California. Mora died in An Najaf, Iraq, when his military vehicle slid off the road and turned over. He was assigned to 3rd Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Polk, Louisiana. Died on May 14, 2004. Master Sgt. Kevin N. Morehead, 33, of Little Rock, Arkansas. Morehead died in Ar Ramadi, Iraq of wounds received when his unit executed a raid on enemy forces. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Died on September 12, 2003. Sgt. Gerardo Moreno, 23, of Terrell, Texas. Moreno died in Ashula, Iraq, when his unit was ambushed by individuals who fired a rocket-propelled grenade. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. Died on April 6, 2004. Spc. Jaime Moreno, 28, of Round Lake Beach, Illinois. Morton, 24, of Wright, Kansas. Morton died in Mosul, Iraq, when his dismounted patrol encountered enemy small arms fire.
